Alaska
Glacier Bay and Juneau

May to September

Whale breach.jpg
Our Alaska Glacier Bay safari, developed over 20 years of guiding Alaska trips, features a personal, small boat experience inside Glacier Bay National Park. This is a premiere, best-in-the-world trip! You will sleep to the sound of glacier`s moving- not calving but the moaning of the ice actually flowing. Other nights the howls of wolves, flickering Northern Lights, and jumping whales together with the gentle movement of the boat will rock you to sleep. Only one boat in Glacier Bay features a combination of small boat cruising and the use of kayaks or shuttle boat so you can explore the shoreline as well. Have you ever found Glacier Worms? Tracked a wolverine? Feasted on freshly picked strawberries or salmon berries? We most highly recommend this trip for late August or early September for the best bear and salmon viewing. However, other departure dates are available. Please contact us for details and we will design your trip to make it the best possible. If you are considering a large cruise ship then you are wasting your time and money. Let us help you learn and enjoy Alaska Glacier Bay!

Hawaii Ocean and
Volcano Exploration

November to March

Hawaii`s Big Island features a combination of wildlife, a living volcano, and special activities found nowhere else on Earth. Waikiki is great for the experience, but you will only find the true Hawaii on the Big Island. We offer a special combination of activities and wildlife so that you will discover the magic of the islands. The best season to visit is from November to March with thousands of whales gathered in the waters around the islands to give birth and renew the generations- at times we have had more than 100 whales in view at the same time! Pele and more await you on the Big Island. Please contact us for details since this trip is custom-designed according to your interests and schedule. Self-guided and full guided options are available.

Japan Wildlife Discovery
Grizzly Bears, Fish Owls, Snow Monkeys, and Dancing Cranes

DSCN1235.JPG
Yes, 2011 was a tough year for Japan. We all saw the images of the tsunami killing 20,000 people and the nuclear reactors exploding. We scoured Montana between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks searching for radiation pills to send to our family (Montana was all sold out), and finally located a supply in New Jersey and sent the pills over for our nieces and nephews.

However, the reality of Japan is very different. Grizzly bears- 3,000 bears on Hokkaido- more grizzlies than in all of America outside of Alaska. Shiretoko National Park- a World Heritage Site and in one glance a beautiful landscape from the ocean to alpine-capped mountains. Beautiful dancing white cranes- breathtaking to see and a joy to the ear. And cute snow monkeys- the hot water must feel soooo good! And how about those Fish Owls- the world`s largest owl. You will stay at the best hot spring hotel in the world to hopefully catch a glimpse of these majestic birds.

We offer a very unique and in-depth wildlife and cultural exploration of Japan. We personaly enjoy these beautiful areas full of wildlife and have made sure our children have also visited all of the same places you will explore. The trip is available self-guided with our detailed instructions or fully guided if you prefer. In Hokkaido your host will be Mr. Yasuo Kuwahara, an excellent English speaker and one of the world`s top wolf biologists. Please see our staff list for more information about Mr. Kuwahara.

Please contact us for further details. We most highly recommend this trip in early October for the best wildlife viewing and beautiful autumn colors.

And please note all places visited will be outside of radiation hot zones so there is no reason to worry!
